RE: Turtle Rock Resort in Oregon?

We have a couple who worked their for a bit this spring.....I will ask them for comments........they left cause they just couldn't get dry and warn by May, they arrived in March.......this spring was a real tough one for cooler temps and humidity in oregon......I know of another couple who were working along the alsea and just couldn't stand it and had to leave in June.....same thing.....I'll ask and post what they had to say....
Sure looks like it has a ton of potential.....when it was for sale recently we looked long and hard at it before remembering we were full timing to travel for a while before we re-settled down...hahahahah

RE: refrigerator noise - high pitch whine

we found an under cabinet light that is enough to keep it from whining.......hate to be wasteful by leaving an unneeded light on....but it is a fairly low wattage bulb.........so we have solved it with your help......the converter is overated for our rig......the dealer put it in as we bought the rig......so it is all ours to deal with.....
Thanks again

RE: refrigerator noise - high pitch whine

MELM............your wild thought......... hit the nail right on the head......our converter is in the island right across from the refridge......the whine went away every time we turn on anything in the 12 volt system........including opening the refridge door and having the light come on.......sooooooooooooooooo, guess we live with it.......Tech Issues Forum hits another homerun for us......
Thank You All

RE: refrigerator noise - high pitch whine

no internal fan........and actually no internal motor in most rv refridges....though these guys worked on heat moving everything....
anyway......
my guess was the door seal.......when you open a fridge the air inside warms even for a couple seconds......then when you close it the air cools and creates a bit of vacuum, thus sucking air past seal and seal vibrating............and remember all in a very small way...that is why it is high pitched......but the noise does stop as soon as you open the door.....no door switches on ours...except light......but still how to stop it is a question.
thanks

refrigerator noise - high pitch whine

We are plugged in so the refrig is running on power, not LP. It has started making a high pitch whine. We debated for weeks about where the noise was coming from and finally pinned it down to the fridge. It stops when we open the door. Then a few minutes later it'll start again. So, it is not constant - just enough to drive me crazy. It comes and goes. If you've ever had "ringing in yours ears", that's what it sounds like. I've tried to notice if it has anything to do with the sun warming up the outside wall. I can't see any correlation to that though. We did get the Dometic recall repair done. We did not have this problem before that but we also did not start noticing the whine right away either. So I don't know if it is related to the repair or not.
Any ideas are welcome!

RE: "At Home" Computer work

so forget the on the road part of looking for opportunities....with the computer you will be competing with work at homers and work at home wannabe's. you will need to shop for a system (to get internet) that will work everywhere you want to go...
I would be cautious of anything that will require occassional visits with customers or company.....those could pop the on the road lifestyle with costs that might put you out of the running if you need the company you work for to pay for your travel. Those kinda things are usually going to people who are established already.
The best one I saw was selling jewelry on line....travel barter find great deals and turn them into sales from a self maintained web site. but you could do it for anything...and even do custom shopping for those who can't travel to where you are or are going........you'll find something for sure.....just takes time......

RE: Filing Taxes While Work-Camping

I took this from our web page.....it is a great source of federal and state tax forms.......sometimes the links don't work as states make changes, but overall a great find.

RE: Filing Taxes While Work-Camping

we are residents of livingston, tx now ;)...........but worked in california and oregon last year.........filed in both....not really very painful.......but we noticed the withholding was very accurate in both and got money back in both......one was $5 and one was in the teens.....donated it back to the state wildlife program in oregon.....bought an gallon or 2 of gas with the other.....hahahahaah
it isn't as scarey as people seem to make it sound.....the way we did it was get a form and fill it out using numbers you expect to make....see how it turns out and then adjust your withholding.....we let it ride at our real exemptions married and 2 and both worked out fine. the people that have to be careful in california are residents who are on a state retirement.... but it looks pretty fair for non-residents......and I don't mind paying my fair share for where I am....shoot I payed $108 for a non-resident fishing lic. in calif....and more in oregon for lic. and tags.......it's fair.

RE: I am confused - Washington State Hosting - Cle Elum

re: FS outsourcing........fact of life. FS has a ton of work to do in every other aspect of maintaining the most beautiful forests in the world.....running a campground is a part that they can entrust to someone else by a permit to operate a campground or they can spell everything out in the contract and have more time to spend out taking care of our forests............the companies I've run into who do it are made up of people who love the outdoors and take very good care of the campgrounds.

RE: Work camp to F/T NP ranger

we met a couple last winter who were headed for the columbia river dams to photograph things for the corps of engineers....they were supposed to come back to the oregon coast to work this summer and decided not to.............but they got their foot in the door and seemed to be pretty excited about the photography opportunities that came to them......
people in the USDA FS with titles like:
Developed Recreation Supervisor
or anything with recreation in their title would know of opportunities for photography or even be able to see the benefits .....
state parks people might have more money for PR and tourism also....
good luck

Northern Utah Opportunity on the Lake

not the Great Salt Lake......Pineview.......30 minutes up the canyon from Ogden with all services and stores......even a VA hospital 60 minutes away.
"In the past we have used either couples or singles on the maintenance team. If the people come as a couple, but one of the two doesn't want to be a maintenance person, I can try to arrange to have that person work in the gatehouse at Anderson Cove.
The team members do lawn mowing, weed trimming, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, dock maintenance and other tasks as assigned. The person doesn't need to be skilled in all of these areas, but does need to be willing to work. Skills in one or more of the areas are helpful. The team members will have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week."
My info about Pineview......it has one of the healthiest populations of Tiger Muskie in the west. Bigguns. Largemouth, crappie, trout, perch also.....those last 2 are part of the reason for the large muskies.......the south fork of the Ogden river runs up to Causey res. small motorless lake with some very big browns....rumor has it a state record brown lived in here, was caught, but immediately eclipsed by the flaming gorge monster brown. nice campgrounds up canyon along river........busy on weekends...calms down during the week....grass quits growing later in the season.....nice cooling breezes in the afternoons......at about 5500 ft.......
from what I know this is a great opportunity for someone who wants a variety of challenges....and enjoys a great area after they finish a days work......
send inquiries to readytowork@americanll.com or call Gary @ 800-342-2267.......
Good Luck

RE: duties of a workcamper

There are many different things you can do as a workamper. Campground Hosting might be the most talked about but, basically, workamping is any kind of work you can do while living in your RV. It typically requires you to live on-site. You can do anything from just being there as a "presence" for security reasons, to providing customer services. Some positions pay you for hours worked and some just provide the site for no cost to you. It just depends on what you are looking for.

Nice area out by the Northern California Coast

Hosting opportunities in lovely area.
The Potter Valley Area is part of the Lake Pillsbury Recreation Area, located in Northwestern California, about 40 miles Northeast of Ukiah. Lake Pillsbury provides a wide range of recreation activities, such as boating, fishing, hiking, and horseback riding. Nearby Hull Mountain provides a spectacular view, and a great location for hang gliders to launch from. The local wildlife is diverse, including deer, antelope, and hundreds of species of birds and water fowl. Fisherman will find trout, salmon, and steelhead in nearby Eel River and its tributaries.

New Workamping Opportunities in Michigan

I wish we weren't committed for the summer......this is a great area......it has been on our list......
The opportunities are in campgrounds that are near Baldwin, MI are: Benton Lake (water), Nichols Lake (water, elec.), Old Grade (water), and Pine Point (water, elec.) Bowmans Bridge is in this area.
We will provide for the removal of your Black and Gray water, all materials needed to care for the CG's, orientation training and many other perks which will be explained before you commit.
The existing other area has campgrounds in Wexford, Lake, and Manistee counties. They are: Hemlock near Cadillac. It has electricity. Peterson Bridge near Wellston. It has water and electricity. Seaton Creek is near Mesick, MI. We don't know what it has for utilities. Lake Michigan and Sand Lake are in this area.
There might be some shuffling of people between the existing facilities and the new campgrounds till we get it fully staffed....
if you are interested please call Gary @ 800-342-2267 or e-mail
readytowork@americanll.com ... mention the new michigan contracts....
and if you have had experience managing large areas or multiple campgrounds or experience in this area..... please contact Gary Immediately as we do have a management position opportunity.....
These are great opportunities, and I'm envious of those who will get to go there.......I am only the messenger on this one....but this is first word out on it.....workamper e-mails will be listing it soon...
Thank You? Happy Trails
